Cropple.AI ("we," "us," or "our") operates the cropple.ai website and mobile application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

By accessing or using Cropple.AI, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect billing information through our payment processor.

Farm Data

You voluntarily provide farm-related data including farm names, field boundaries (GPS coordinates/polygons), crop types, livestock records, soil types, planting dates, harvest information, and financial transactions. This data is essential for the Service to function.

Location Data

We collect farm location coordinates (latitude and longitude) that you provide during onboarding. This information is used to fetch weather data and satellite imagery for your specific region.

Photos

When you use the AI photo analysis feature, uploaded images of crops, livestock, or fields are processed to provide recommendations. Photos are stored securely and are only associated with your account.

Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, and AI conversation history, to improve the user experience.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • AI Processing: Your farm data, photos, and conversation history are sent to AI models to generate personalized recommendations, daily briefings, and answers to your farming questions.
  • Satellite Queries: Field boundary data is sent to satellite imagery providers to calculate vegetation health indices (NDVI) for your fields.
  • Weather Services: Farm location coordinates are used to retrieve current weather conditions, forecasts, and weather alerts for your area.
  • Service Improvement: Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us improve the Service, fix bugs, and develop new features.
  • Communication: We may send you service-related emails such as account verification, billing receipts, and critical alerts about your farm.

3. Third-Party Services

We share specific data with the following third-party providers to deliver the Service:

  • Google Gemini: Farm context and conversation data are processed by Google's Gemini AI models to generate recommendations and answer questions.
  • Copernicus / Sentinel Hub: Field boundary coordinates are sent to the European Space Agency's Sentinel Hub API to retrieve satellite imagery and calculate NDVI vegetation indices.
  • Stripe: Payment and billing information is processed by Stripe for subscription management. We do not store your full credit card number.
  • OpenWeatherMap: Farm location coordinates are sent to OpenWeatherMap to retrieve weather data and forecasts.
  • Supabase: All application data is stored in Supabase, a hosted PostgreSQL database with row-level security. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing the use of your data. We encourage you to review their policies.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Supabase-managed PostgreSQL databases with row-level security policies ensuring that you can only access your own data. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We implement industry-standard security measures including authentication tokens, parameterized queries, and input validation.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but will notify you promptly in the event of a data breach.

5. Cookies

Cropple.AI uses essential cookies only to maintain your authentication session and preferences. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. When you visit the Service for the first time, a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of the screen. Accepting it records your consent and enables the following essential cookies:

  • Supabase auth session — keeps you logged in across page loads. Automatically cleared on sign-out or session expiry.
  • cropple-locale — stores your preferred language so the interface is presented in the correct language on every visit.
  • cropple-country — stores your detected country code to apply regional pricing and localised defaults.
  • cropple-consent — records that you have acknowledged this cookie notice. Valid for 12 months, after which the banner is shown again.

No advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies are set. Session cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser or log out.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: View all personal data we hold about you through your account settings.
  • Export: Download a complete copy of all your data in machine-readable JSON format at any time from Settings > Privacy & Data.
  • Correction: Update or correct your personal information at any time through your profile settings.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data through your account settings. Upon deletion, all farm data, conversation history, and uploaded photos will be permanently removed within 30 days.
  • Portability: Request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.

7. AI Processing Disclosure

To deliver personalised farm advice, daily briefings, and AI chat responses, your farm data is sent to and processed by Google Gemini (Google LLC). This includes farm names, field coordinates, crop types, livestock records, recent transactions, and any photos or questions you share during an AI chat session.

Google processes this data in accordance with its own data-processing terms and privacy policy. Data sent to Google Gemini is used solely to generate a response and is not retained by Google for model training under our API agreement. We encourage you to review Google's Privacy Policy for further details.

8. Email Communications

When you create a Cropple.AI account, you will receive a series of onboarding emails designed to help you get the most from the Service. These emails cover topics such as setting up your first farm, understanding AI briefings, and exploring key features. They are sent over the first few weeks following registration.

You may unsubscribe from onboarding and marketing emails at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any email we send. Transactional emails — such as billing receipts, password reset links, and critical farm alerts — cannot be unsubscribed from, as they are essential for account operation.

Email preferences can also be managed from your account settings.

9. Children's Privacy

Cropple.AI is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
